Dr. Vijaya Kumar A is a dedicated academician and a cherished teacher known for his ability to train, mentor, and counsel students. He has been serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science at the School of Arts and Science, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (Deemed to be University) since July 2018. With more than two decades of teaching experience, he has played a vital role in shaping the knowledge and skills of budding computer professionals.
He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, in 2022, with Image Processing and Artificial Intelligence as his research areas. He also qualified in the State Eligibility Test (SET) in 2016. His academic journey includes an M.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering from SRM University, Chennai (2015), an M.Phil. in Computer Science (2004), and an MCA (2001) from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli.
As an active researcher, Dr. Vijaya Kumar has published extensively in reputed journals indexed in Scopus and Thomson Reuters and has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences. He has authored the book Advanced Python Programming (ISBN: 978-93-5625-643-9), published in December 2022, and holds two design patents: Machine Learning Based Stress Detection Device (Design No: 392130-001, August 2023) and Use of Big Data in the Insurance Sector (November 2021).
Beyond research, he contributes to knowledge dissemination through course content videos on Cryptography and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) available on YouTube. He is also a Certified Soft Skills Trainer and has successfully completed five NPTEL–SWAYAM certification courses, including Blockchain and its Applications (2025), Cloud Computing (2024), Human-Computer Interaction (2019), Great Experiments in Psychology (2017), and Enhancing Soft Skills and Personality (2017).
Dr. Vijaya Kumar envisions education as a transformative process that not only imparts knowledge but also motivates students to become intellectually competent and socially responsible individuals. His unwavering commitment to teaching, research, and mentorship continues to inspire the student community at the School of Arts and Science.
