Dr. Madhu Bala is a scholar, writer, artist, and educator committed to nurturing students through literature, research, and life skills. She has been serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the School of Arts and Science, VMCC, Vinayaka Missions Deemed-to-be-University, since July 2023. Alongside her teaching, she plays a key role as Placement Cell Coordinator, Media Coordinator and Literary Association Coordinator, mentoring students in both academic and professional growth.
She holds a Ph.D. in English from the University of Madras (2020–2023). Her doctoral thesis, “Revisiting the Dynamics of Caste and Gender: A Study on Casteism in Select Regional Novels of Tamil Nadu” (Ethiraj College for Women, Chennai, 2023), explores caste and gender intersections in Tamil Nadu. Her broader research spans caste and gender studies, transgender narratives, cultural studies, and body politics. She completed her M.A. in English Literature at Women’s Christian College, Chennai (2017–2019), and her B.A. in English Literature at Sri Parasakthi College for Women, Courtallam (2014–2017). She is also UGC-NET qualified in English.
In addition, she is a Certified Entrepreneurship Educator by the Wadhwani Foundation. She has pursued further professional training, earning a Certificate in Soft Skills, a Diploma in English Language, and an Advanced Diploma in Job-Oriented Skills. As a certified soft skills trainer, she integrates employability skills, communication training, and personality development into her teaching. Her initiatives, including reading circles, public speaking forums, and cultural clubs, encourage critical thinking and creativity among students.
In terms of professional experience, Dr. Madhu Bala began her career as a Guest Lecturer at Sri Parasakthi College for Women, Courtallam, before moving into full-time academia. She has also worked as a soft skills trainer, conducting training sessions for both students and teachers at various institutions. She is a co-founder of Tipster Academy, an online training platform that successfully prepares aspirants for the UGC-NET in English. Her entrepreneurial venture, Tipster Academy, since 2020, reflects her commitment to extending quality academic guidance beyond the classroom by mentoring aspiring scholars preparing for the UGC-NET.
At the School of Arts and Science, she envisions education as a transformative process that empowers students, especially from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds, to become intellectually competent, socially responsible, and future-ready.
