Ms. Sharmila is a dedicated academician with over 13 years of teaching and technical experience in reputed higher education institutions. Since joining the School of Arts and Science, Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation, she has been serving as an Assistant Professor (Grade-II) in the Department of Computer Science, where she actively contributes to both academic growth and research development.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a Master’s degree in Information Technology, and an M.Phil. in Computer Science, all from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. Her research interests include Machine Learning, Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence. To enhance her teaching and research expertise, she has also completed professional certifications such as NPTEL courses in IoT and Python for Data Science, along with multiple online skill development programs.

At VMRF, Ms. Sharmila plays an active role as a member of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), where she trains, mentors, and organises programs such as motivation sessions, ideation workshops, and Smart India Hackathons, fostering innovation and entrepreneurial skills among students. She is also a member of the Women Empowerment Cell, contributing to initiatives that promote gender equality, women’s rights, and holistic student development.

As an educator, she integrates modern teaching methodologies with real-world applications, creating a dynamic and student-centered learning environment. She has attended several national and international Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs) in advanced computing and educational technologies, further enriching her teaching practices.

Through her commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and student empowerment, Ms. Sharmila continues to inspire learners and contribute significantly to the institution’s mission of nurturing competent and socially responsible professionals.
