Dr. M. Surendiran is an accomplished teacher, researcher, and academic leader with expertise in nanobiomaterials, analytical chemistry, materials science, and corrosion science. He earned his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Periyar University, Salem (Highly Commended), pursued a research stint as a Visiting Scientist at NIMS, Japan, and holds M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Chemistry from Kongu Nadu Arts & Science College, Coimbatore. His teaching interests span Physical Chemistry, Nanotechnology, Electrochemistry, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, and Inorganic Chemistry. Known for a student-centered approach, he mentors UG, PG, and Ph.D. scholars in advanced materials research, emphasizing innovation and real-world application.

As an active researcher, Dr. Surendiran has published 23 international journal papers (Cumulative IF ≈ 98+), authored books and chapters, and holds patents in biomaterials and eco-friendly coatings. His work focuses on bioceramic coatings for orthopedic and dental implants, nanomaterials for biomedical and environmental applications, and corrosion-resistant coatings. He has successfully completed UGC-funded and seed projects, with another currently in progress. He also serves as a reviewer for reputed journals under Elsevier, Springer Nature, and Wiley.

He has presented widely at national and international conferences, earned multiple Best Paper Awards, and established collaborations with leading groups in Japan, South Korea, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and Malaysia. His technical expertise includes electrochemical methods (CHI 760C), FTIR, XRD, AFM, and advanced coating and surface modification techniques. Dr. Surendiran’s contributions have been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Research Excellence Award (INSc), Best Faculty Award (IARA), Best Scientist Award (NSF), Young Researcher Award (VDGOOD), and the Managerial Excellence Award (SAS). In addition to his research, he has played key roles in academic governance, serving on the IQAC Committee at Periyar University, coordinating AQAR submissions, and organizing workshops and conferences. His work reflects a consistent commitment to integrating research with teaching, fostering interdisciplinary learning, and mentoring students to address societal and industrial challenges through sustainable solutions.
