Prof. Dr. R. Jayaprakash is a distinguished academician and researcher with over two decades of experience in higher education, combined with six years in the pharmaceutical industry. His career spans teaching, research, administration, and consultancy, making him a versatile contributor to both academia and industry. He has served in leading institutions, including as Professor of Chemistry, Head of Department at Dhaanish Ahmed College of Engineering (2009–2011), research coordinator, NAAC criteria coordinator, and staff and student counsellor. He has also enriched pre-university education with a tenure at a renowned IIT/NEET coaching school.

His research expertise covers a wide range of interdisciplinary areas such as nanomaterials, corrosion and coatings, drug design, medicinal chemistry, biotechnology, anticancer drug development, computational studies, and QSAR modelling. He has authored more than 35 publications in reputed journals, filed over 15 patents, and successfully executed government-funded projects. He has guided and co-guided more than 15 Ph.D. scholars and continues to mentor graduate and postgraduate students, many of whom have established careers in chemical industries and academia. Dr. Jayaprakash is a sought-after consultant for chemical firms and medical colleges, recognized for his innovative solutions and applied research. His collaborations extend internationally, including research engagements with the Department of Biological Sciences, University of Bamenda, Cameroon.

As a trained NSS Programme Officer (MSSW, Egmore), he guided students in impactful social initiatives, including projects that won the prestigious Indira Gandhi National Award from the President of India.
