Overview
The Department of Commerce is the largest department of the School of Arts and Science, Vinayaka Mission Research Foundation (Deemed to be University), Chennai Campus.
Curriculum and Core Subjects
Established in 2017, the department offers B.Com Gen, B.Com (CA), M.Com, and Ph.D. programs. The curriculum covers key subjects such as Accounting, Economics, Business Law, Taxation, Goods and Services Tax (GST), and Entrepreneurial Development, ensuring a strong foundation in modern commercial practices. As per NEP 2020 guidelines, students from both Commerce and Non-Commerce backgrounds who have completed Higher Secondary are eligible for admission, making the program inclusive and accessible.
Skills Development and Practical Training
Additionally, the department offers a Prime Tally Certificate Course for final-year B.Com students to enhance employability supported by an MoU signed with Prime Tally Solutions, Bangalore, on 19/12/2022.
