Dr. S. S. Saranya
Associate Professor & Head, Department of English
As Head of the Department, I am proud to lead a dynamic academic community committed to cultivating intellectual curiosity, fostering critical thinking, and promoting excellence in language and literary studies.
The study of English offers students a unique opportunity to explore the power of words—how they shape ideas, influence cultures, and connect people across time and place. Our department strives to provide a learning environment that is both academically rigorous and supportive, encouraging students to question, analyse, and engage deeply with literature, language, and the world around them.
Our dedicated faculty members bring a blend of scholarship, experience, and passion to the classroom. They are committed not only to delivering high-quality instruction but also to mentoring students as they develop their academic and professional identities. Through collaborative learning, research opportunities, and a variety of co-curricular activities, we aim to nurture well-rounded individuals equipped with strong communication skills, creativity, and analytical insight.
As a department, we continuously work to strengthen our academic programs, enhance research culture, and integrate innovative teaching practices that align with the evolving needs of higher education. We also encourage students to participate actively in departmental events, workshops, literary initiatives, and outreach activities that enrich their knowledge and broaden their perspectives.
I extend my warm wishes to all current and prospective students, faculty, and collaborators. Together, we look forward to upholding the department’s tradition of excellence and contributing meaningfully to the institution’s vision and mission.
